FCMB AND EMP AGREE TO EXPAND E-BUSINESS AGREEMENT

Emerging Markets Payments (EMP) Company has announced the expansion of its e-banking agreement with First City Monument Bank Limited (FCMB). A statement by the bank said that since 2010, EMP has been providing FCMB processing services.

We gathered that under the agreement, EMP has commenced the issuance of naira debit cards for FCMB as well as continuing to provide processing services. 

The Chief Executive Officer, EMP, Murat Ozuiku, said: “Over the years, EMP has been able to support partner banks to achieve their business strategy by providing solutions that render cardholders a seamless, convenient and secure payment experience. We believe that expanding FCMB’s card offerings with EMP will provide cardholders with more tools that best cater for their needs, encouraging them to take advantage of the various benefits of electronic payments.”

Ozuiku added that the debit cards can be applied for at any of the FCMB branches across Nigeria.

According to the statement by FCMB, FCMB’s naira debit cards can be used to complete transactions through all the Point of Sale terminals and Automated Teller Machines that accept debit cards in over 210 countries and with over 30 million merchants across the world.

The EMP boss said with the firm handling the issuance and processing on behalf of FCMB, the bank’s clients would enjoy reliable network that processes more than six transactions a second and acquired billions of dollars’ worth of transactions a year.

The statement also quoted the Executive Director, FCMB, Mr. Nath Ude, as saying: “EMP’s position as an industry leader is undeniable.
